é Entry to the Ist Castle courtyard or Court of Honour from Hradčanské Square. The main and ceremonial entrance to the Castle is divided from Hradčanské Square by a gateway with rococo lattice-work and vast statues of wrestling giants.

é The Vladislav Hall of the Old Royal Palace in Prague Castle was built at the order of King Vladislav of Jagellon from plans by B. Ried (1487-1500). In the Middle Ages it was the biggest secular hall in Prague. It is 63 meters long, 16 meters wide and 13 meters high. é The Old Diet was the seat of the supreme body of the Czech medieval judiciary.

é Queen Anne's Summer Palace - a Renaissance building from the middle of the 16th century - is surrounded with arcades decorated with a wealth of figural and ornamental reliefs. It was built by Emperor Ferdinand I. Standing in front of the Summer Palace is the Singing Fountain by Francesco Terzia, cast by Tomáš Jaroš in 1564-68.

é The Premonstratensian monastery in Strahov was founded in 1140 by Prince Vladislav II. at the instigation of Bishop Zdík of Olomouc and in the Middle Ages it was already a centre of learning, with its famous library.

é The abbey church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is basically a Romanesque basilica from the 12th century, rebuilt in baroque style in 1743-51. é The Theological Hall of the monastery, richly decorated with paintings, is the original monastery library and was built in 1671-79 by G. D. Orsi.
