After the Velvet Revolution in 1989 the palace was transferred to the property of the Prague Conservatory, and this institution continues to reside in the building until today. The restaurant was opened in 1994 in the former school dining room. As part of the reconstruction efforts in 1996 the restaurant was thoroughly redecorated in its present style.

The site of Obecní dům has an interesting, tortuous history. The neighboring Prašná brána (Powder Tower), which is a unique monument of the gothic defense system of the Old Town, is a reminder of the important trade route that led by it. This route was directed to the east of Prague and was used for travels to Kutná Hora, a city rich with gold and silver. This might have been a reason why this site, although close to the ramparts, was selected by the king Wenceslas IV as a site of his residence named The King s Court (Králův dvůr).
Visit our other restaurant - the Pilsener Restaurant serving typical Czech dishes and excellent Pilsener beer. All meals are prepared to you by the team headed by chef de cuisine Jiří Král and confectioner Silvie Sulanská, members of the Czech National Representation Team of Chefs and Confectioners, in cooperation with Mr. H. J. Sistek, owner of the restaurant "Am Gallusplatz" in St. Gallen, who were awarded a golden medal at the international exhibition held on February 19, 2000 in Stuttgart. |

Křemencova 11, Prague 1

Internet: http://www.ufleku.cz
Open daily: 9.00 am - 11.00 pm
It is not really necessary to introduce the “U Fleků” brewery and restaurant. Perhaps everybody who has walked down the Křemencová street has kept in mind a richly decorated clock on the brewery's facade that asks everybody to visit any of the several rooms of the restaurant. And everybody who has come in has kept in mind, or better on the tongue, a delicious and unique taste of “U Fleků” 13° lager. Up to now the lager has been brewed according to old recipes, but in a newly furnished setting with the same care as in the time of our great grandfathers. The “U Fleků” brewery celebrates its 500th anniversary since it was founded in 1499.
The atmosphere of the old “U Fleků” building is emphasized in the individual rooms and halls of the restaurant by the interior decoration and stylish furnishings. Starting with the most famous and most original one, called “Akademie” (Academy), where in the last century famous figures of Czech history used to meet, through “Václavka” with its stained glass, to “Jitrnice” (Sausage) with a Gothic vault and to “Rytířský sál” (Knights' Hall) furnished in romantic style. In its eight rooms and halls the “U Fleků” brewery restaurant can serve more than 1200 guests at once, either in the intimate setting of the “Kufr” (Suitcase) or “Akademie” or in the “Kabaret” (Cabaret) hall with 200 seats, where the “U Fleků” cabaret takes place. |

The Kolkovna Restaurant is based on a combination of the tradition and uniqueness of the Pilsner Urquell brand and Czech cuisine fused with modern gastronomy. The Restaurant can be found in Kolkovna 8, Prague 1. It is only a stone throw's away from the Pařížská Street and the Old Town Square. |
